11 Month Old Yellow Female
listed 7/22/2008

Lollie is an 11 month old purebred Labrador puppy. She is a yellow lab with amazing burnt sugar eyes. This is a truly beautiful and well bred Labrador female. Dew claws have been removed. Lollie is wonderful with other dogs and children. She is housebroken, knows all her basic commands, is great in the car and crate and wants nothing more than to please her owner. Lollie loves the dog park where she has many friends and loves to run along side a bike. Lollie seams to be ok with cats but does give chase occasionally. She also loves her walks but needs to work a bit on not pulling on the leash. Lollie is a puppy and would do best in a home where she will get at least 1 hour of exercise a day. She would love a friendly young playful companion and preferences will be given to someone who has more time at home since she is still a baby.

Gracie comes spayed, microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations. If you would like to meet Lollie, please e-mail donna@dishgirl.com for an application to adopt.

A home visit and adoption fee apply.

Meet Max!

Max is a happy, wiggly, gorgeous shiny black purebred Labrador boy of about 1 1/2 years. Max is good with other dogs, playful, and LOVES the ball. He will fetch until the sun goes down. Max is great in the car and loves to go for rides. He appears to be housebroken and is wonderful with people, children, and kitties! Max is a very nicely bred Labrador with a good amount of energy and would love a home where he will get lots of ball throwing, hiking, and play time - at least a hour a day as he is a young boy. Max would do great with or without another friendly playmate or kitty friend.

Max comes neutered, microchipped and up to date on all shots. Please e-mail scartersoo@mac.com for an application so you can meet Max!

Boomer is a 3 ½ yr old yellow lab (very light, almost white) 90lbs – he’s neutered, current on shots, great with other dogs and children (no cats). He’s housetrained, has good house manners (can be left inside without incident) playful, and looking for a forever family. Owners cannot keep because rental does not allow pets.

If you are interested in adopting Boomer, contact Deborah at 805-627-1759.

6 Year Old Chocolate Female
listed 7/11/2008

Rita is a 6 year old female chocolate lab who is looking for a home where she will be loved and cared for.

Due to a previous injury, Rita is blind in her left eye. It is somewhat noticeable due to being cloudy in color however it seems to affect her very minimally. She will need to continue on oral meds and eye drops for another two months to clear up inflammation. She takes her meds very well. The 2 month meds will be covered by us.

She knows commands sit and stay, walks well on the leash and rides well in a car. When we got her, she weighed 80 pounds but is now down to 71 pounds. She is well behaved around children. She loves to go for walks, but is not a ball or frisbee player. She likes to be in the same room with you, but does not require constant attention. However she does not like to be left alone and would not do well with someone working long hours. She would probably be happy to have another dog for company. She loves belly rubs.

2 Year Old Black Female
listed 6/28/2008

JB is a 2 year old Purebred Black Lab with papers. I got him 2 years ago for Mother's Day when he was only 2 months old. He is up to date with his shots, is neutered, crate trained and is an indoor/outdoor dog. He eats his breakfast in his crate before I leave for work, stays outback while I'm at work, has free run of the house and backyard during the day and then eats his dinner and sleeps in his crate at night. He is potty trained and will bark when he has to go outside. He is warning of predators or anyone walking up to the front door but will calm down as soon as I am next to him. He is great on walks and wants to play with every dog he sees. I have never seen him be aggressive with any other animals. He loves to play fetch and absolutely loves to swim or play in water. He knows simple commands like nice, sit, lay (down), stay (sort of - excited puppy), go potty, crate and outside. He loves ice as a treat and loves to go outside to be brushed. He's great with the kids (7, 6 and 10 months) especially my 10 month old. My daughter will even put her hand in his mouth, bang on his back or pull his tail and he won't even budge. He will still grab the occasional toilet paper roll out of the bathroom, try to get into the trash or the babies toy/stuffed animal. I don't find him chewing on wood or things of that nature anymore but I also keep him occupied with his own chew bones and toys. He doesn't like his paws touched and doesn't like to be left outside if I'm home and will scratch on the slider door. If anything he loves to lay by my feet no matter what I'm doing. All in all he really is a great dog but doesn't get enough attention or get walked that often. I think that's why he acts up sometimes by getting things that aren't his. Also I do have a large crate that is his. I also have an outdoor dog house that my Mom gave me but we have yet to use it. Please contact Harmony at rocknracin8@sbcglobal.net if you're interested in this beautiful girl.

3 Year Old Black Female
listed 6/12/2008

Mercedes is a beautiful three-year old lab that was rescued from the Carson shelter in November 2007 by our family.

According to the shelter, Mercedes was turned in by her previous owners because she was afraid of the Goodyear blimp, which takes off and lands nearby. Supposedly, she would get so frightened that she would jump the fence. Although she is noise sensitive, she’s never tried to jump our fence or shown any apprehension with overhead objects (helicopters, planes, blimps.)

Mercedes is a very loving black lab and we’ve had a trainer work with her for two months with great success, as she knows all basic commands (She probably had some previous training.)

Mercedes now gets along with our two cats. She tries to play with them but doesn’t have the best social skills and the cats don’t want to be bothered. Mercedes is housebroken and spent some time in a crate when she first came home with us, but prefers sleeping on the floor, at the foot of our bed. She likes to be part of the pack and gives lots of licks and kisses. She does not get onto the furniture unless asked to and loves to go for walks and runs. She is very good at fetch and tries to stuff as many tennis balls in her mouth as possible. She is not a barker—but will bark from time to time when she sees other dogs walking by the house. She is an alpha female and thinks her role is to protect the household, so she will bark at other dogs and chase squirrels. She loves to ride in the car and is really happy being part of the family.

She has brought much happiness to our family, but we must find another home for her because she is resource-protective and therefore not good with children.

If you'd like to be put in touch with Mercedes' owner, please send an email to info@fetchingcompanions.org or leave a message at 888-412-3382.

BODHI: "enlightenment"

Bodhi was a rescue from the pound at 15 months in September of 2007. He is a 90 lb. American Blockhead Lab without papers. Bodhi is an All American Boy with loads of energy and love and needs a home where he receives lots of attention. He loves other dogs and, running with the pack at the dog park is a favorite thing to do!

Bodhi is still a puppy and if he doesn't get his exercise, he can become destructive. He can be protective if he is in an unknown environment. He follows commands, but not consistently, such as "Go to Bodhi's bed", "sit", "shake", "out of the room", "Let's go". He loves to cuddle and have his belly scratched. He definitely needs training and daily reinforcement.

Bodhi's owner/rescuer is moving and cannot continue to keep him and provide what he needs to have a happy Lab puppy life. His shots are up to date. He is neutered and has a microchip implant.

1 Year Old Black Male
Listed 11/20/2007

Here is Jeffrey's story: He was adopted as a 12 week old puppy to a family who made a training commitment and didn't follow through. Jeffrey, a young and energetic puppy was left behind when the family and their other dog went everywhere together. JHe's a very smart boy who needs structure and guidance. He never understood where he fit in life and in this family. When Jeffrey began to display excited and insecure puppy behavior, his owners bought a chihuahua and left Jeffrey at a shelter two months later.

He is incredibly responsive and will soon be a graduate of professional training. Jeffrey can be selective when choosing his dog buddies (although he lived with another dog), but we are working on making him feel safe and confident in all situations. His trainer says that he is one of the smartest dogs that she has ever met. Now, at 1 year old and 55 lbs, he needs a home where he will receive structure, unconditional love, and training. He loves to take athletic adventures and to cuddle like a baby.

If you'd like to learn more about Jeffrey, contact Karen at kitfreid@yahoo.com.
